Me Time

Me Time is Anew's own in-house programme designed for women not quite ready to think about their experience of abuse and nervous about attending groupwork. It can be used as a great pre-cursor to the Freedom programme for women who don't feel they're quite ready, or for women who have completed the other groupwork programmes but aren't quite ready to “go it alone” Something rather beautiful happens during this group when women at different stages of their recovery support one another and do something fun together.

Only six weeks long and far more relaxed and informal than the other programmes. Me-Time takes the first half of the two hour session to explore the concept of identity. It is aimed at women who have experienced abuse and feel like they just don't know who they are anymore, but it does not explore the abuse itself, and in fact could be beneficial to any woman.

The second half of the session is a more social experience and is devoted to re-discovering our inner child. We spend it doing fun childhood activities: glueing and sticking, playing with Hamma Beads or Lego, making (and eating) cornflake cakes. Participants love this time devoted to themselves to do something fun and a bit silly just for an hour a week.

Package includes:

  • 6 x 2 hour groupwork sessions
  • 15 minutes informal time before and after each session for facilitated peer support or 1:1 support for participants.
  • All materials provided for all the activities
  • Certificate for each participant.
  • Feedback and effectiveness report at the end of each six weeks that can be used for funding bids.

Price: £150 per session or £900 per six week programme.
